Pixar has lost over 100 employees during Disney's latest round of layoffs. This news comes as Toy Story 5 nears $1 billion at the box office.

That movie was not the runaway hit that Disney may have hoped for, but the company had another at-bat this weekend, and with the summer solstice, Disney got a real hit. Toy Story 5 opened with not just what Disney is calling the best opening of the weekend but of all of 2026 so far.

"Toy Story 5" grossed an estimated $160 million domestically and $152 million internationally after debuting in theaters on Friday.

Apparently the call wasn’t out there at all for “Moana,” which brought in just $52 million in its international box office debut. Disney’s latest live-action remake struggled to make waves with $43 million domestically and $95 million worldwide,
